We learned that one key reason people play the lottery is because they look forward to winning. That the time between buying your ticket and finding out if you won is when your dreams are still alive. So we used that knowledge to create interest in a new game, Quick Draw, and drive ticket sales: every day you miss out on a Quick Draw ticket, is a day you miss out on the excitement of knowing you could win.
It was knowledge worthy of a new proclamation: "Every day is a Quick Draw day." Soon to be recognized as one of the al time great quotes about seizing the day. Thanks to our radio spot, of course.
In the end, The Lottery more than doubled its launch goal of $3 million with $6.9 million in sales. And the client, who described herself as having very high expectations, admitted those expectations were exceeded as well.
